Patient Information Days
Kidney cancer patients and their families are our top priority. As the only patient led and patient managed charity in the United Kingdom we listen very carefully to what patients and families affected by kidney cancer tell us would help them.
As a result, this year, in partnership with renal cancer Clinical Nurse Specialists (CNSs) from NHS hospitals across the country, we have launched a programme of Kidney Cancer Patient Information Days.
If you can join us at one of our Patient Information Days, you will have the opportunity to hear from expert speakers sharing information on a variety of topics, such as managing side effects, supportive care, kidney cancer treatments, benefits of exercise, and the role of nutrition. We also like to ask a patient share their personal experience of living with kidney cancer.
On the day itself, there will be time to chat with other patients and families affected by kidney cancer, and to put your questions to the experts in a relaxed informal atmosphere.
The Patient Information Days are sponsored by Action Kidney Cancer. They are free to attend with food and refreshments provided throughout the day.

Cornwall
The Uro-Oncology Clinical Nurse Specialists from Royal Cornwall Hospital together with Action Kidney Cancer invite you to join them on Tuesday 7 October 2025, 9.30 am to 3.30 pm at the Health and Wellbeing Centre, Royal Cornwall Hospital, Truro, TR1 3FF.
The day is free for kidney cancer patients and their families to come along to talk about living well on treatment. Please join us for talks by Consultant Oncologist Dr John McGrane, dieticians, Macmillan clinical psychologists, Clinical Nurse Specialists and fellow kidney cancer patients. Lunch and refreshments will be provided.

Sheffield
The Renal Clinical Nurse Specialists from Western Park Cancer Centre, Sheffield, and Action Kidney Cancer invite you and your family members to join them on Monday 13 October 2025, 9.30 am to 3.30 pm at Kenwood Hall, Conference Centre Kenwood House, Kenwood Road, Sheffield, S7 1NQ.
There will be presentations on a variety of topics including; patient experience, treatments for kidney cancer, managing side effects of treatments, clinical trials and research, diet after a kidney cancer diagnosis and much more. The day is free to attend. Lunch and refreshments will be provided.

Swansea Bay Patient Information Day 28th November 2024
On the 28th November 2024, we hosted a successful Patient Information Day at the Swansea.com Stadium in Swansea, in partnership with the renal cancer CNS at Swansea Bay Hospital.
The day kicked off at 10 am with an inspirational patient story from Steve Pointon about living with kidney cancer. This was followed by excellent presentations from health care professionals who treat and support kidney cancer patients. Karen McNee closed the meeting by sharing how Action Kidney Cancer supports patients and their families, including our online Patient Support Forum, telephone helpline, email support, information leaflets and much more. Everyone enjoyed the opportunity to meet new people and to share their experiences of living with kidney cancer. We received some excellent feedback:

“Want to thank you for today, it was such an amazing day with patients asking as they were leaving, when is the next one!”
Meanwhile some patients and carers who heard about the online Patient Support Forum joined our forum and found support from other patients and carers that same day.
The day finished at 3.30 pm with many patients, nurses and clinicians asking us “Can we do this again next year?”

Royal Surrey Patient Information Day 12th April 2024
On the 12th April 2024 we hosted a Patient Information Day at the Holiday Inn in Guildford in partnership with the renal oncology CNSs at the Royal Surrey Cancer Centre.
The day started at 10 am with an inspirational patient experience of living with kidney cancer from Alison Fielding. This was followed by excellent presentations from health care professionals. We finished the meeting by sharing how we support patients and their families. Click here for more information on our support services. Some patients joined our Patient Support Forum later that day.
On the day, some patients talked about setting up a kidney cancer patient and carers group. Since then, Scott Kelly has set up the 3CKC patient and carers group in Camberley. The group is free to attend and meets regularly at a local pub to chat and offer mutual support. The group is facilitated and funded by Action Kidney Cancer. Everyone really appreciated the day, especially the opportunity to meet other kidney cancer patients for mutual support. Feedback was very positive:
