Leave a gift in your Will

You might like to leave a lasting legacy to help and support kidney cancer patients and their families by leaving a gift you your Will. Your gift will be able to fund better care and treatment, helping more people to survive kidney cancer in the future.

More than 13,300 people are diagnosed with kidney cancer in the UK each year. The incidence is increasing annually, and kidney cancer is now the seventh most common cancer in British adults; however, it is still considered to be a less common cancer, although around 4,700 people die from the disease every year. A gift in your Will could help reduce these devastating statistics by funding access to better care and treatments to help many people in the future survive kidney cancer with a good quality of life.

If you need help or support, please do not hesitate to email us, ring our helpline, or post on our patient support forum.

How to leave a gift in your Will

Thank you so much for considering leaving a gift in your Will for Action Kidney cancer – it is very much appreciated.  Even the smallest of gifts can make a huge difference to a small charity like ourselves.

You must include the following information in your Will:

  • Our name and address: Action Kidney Cancer, 11th Floor, 3 Piccadilly Place, Manchester, M1 3BN
  • Our registered charity numbers: 1164238 (England and Wales) and SC051330 (Scotland)

If you have kindly made the decision to leave a gift in your Will for Action Kidney cancer, we suggest you use the following wording. You must indicate whether you are leaving a percentage of your estate or a fixed amount of money:

“I give to Action Kidney Cancer, 11th Floor, 3 Piccadilly Place, Manchester, M1 3BN, registered charity numbers 1164238 (England and Wales) and SC051330 (Scotland) [______% of my estate] or [the sum of £___________ ], to be used for general charitable purposes absolutely and I declare that the receipt of the Treasurer or duly authorised officer shall be a full and sufficient discharge.”

If you already have a Will, you can amend your Will with the wording used above.

Writing your Will

When you are writing your Will, you may need the services of a solicitor or a Will-writing service. Some banks or financial advisors also provide Will-writing services. You can find a local solicitor who will be able to help you write your Will at the The Law Society in England and Wales (please ring 020 7242 1222) or The Law Society of Scotland (please ring 0131 226 7411).

Remember a Charity gives guidance on finding a solicitor, making a Will and leaving a gift in your Will.
