A recent study involving 2,459 people who had a partial or radical nephrectomy for early stage (cT1) renal cell carcinoma (RCC) has shown that, although radical nephrectomy was associated with an increased risk of chronic kidney disease compared with partial nephrectomy, it was not associated with a statistically significant difference in survival among patients with cT1 RCC.
