Two recent studies have identified potential biomarkers for renal cell carcinoma (RCC). The first study, published in Molecular Medicine Report this month, identified a gene called centrosomal protein 55 (CEP55), which may be considered a potential diagnostic and prognostic biomarker for clear cell RCC when levels are raised in tumour samples.

The second study, published in Oncotarget this month, looked at novel lipid molecules that could be used to predict disease progression in clear cell RCC, potentially providing a new diagnostic or therapeutic strategy for targeting cancer cell metabolism.
