A type blood cell, which has an important role in the immune system to help fight infections and foreign bodies. White blood cells are made in the bone marrow, lymph nodes or spleen, and are found in the blood and lymph (in lymphatic vessels). Examples of white blood cells include lymphocytes and leucocytes.
