A recent study published in the European Journal of Cancer this month suggests that the Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center (MSKCC) risk score, the number of bone metastases, and surgical removal of bone metastases (radical resection) are important prognostic factors for patients with bone metastases from renal cell carcinoma (RCC).
In addition, surgery to remove solitary bone metastases should be considered as a means to control tumour growth and is likely to increase the overall survival of the patient.
