The Government has set out plans for ‘levelling up’ in a recent press release earlier this month, and how these plans will help parts of the country that have been left behind to catch up on a range of measures, including health. This includes cancer disparities across the country.

Although the levelling up plans from the Government were mostly positive, such as a commitment to address health inequalities like smoking and obesity (which both increase cancer risk), cancer diagnosis and the NHS Long Term Plan, and cancer research, important detail is still missing from the plan.

Cancer Research UK have written a paper to explain what this might mean for cancer patients and what the Government needs to do next to ‘level up’ on cancer.
