This coming Saturday 20th May is International Clinical Trials Day, which has been held on 20th May each year since 2005 to commemorate the day James Lind started the first clinical trial. The National Institute for Health Research (NIHR) are launching a campaign called ‘I Am Research’ to raise awareness of the benefits of research and the positive impact it has on people’s lives. The ‘I Am Research’ campaign gives patients, the public, and health and social care research professionals a chance to shout about how fantastic research is using various initiatives, one of which is a Thunderclap.

To spread the word about the positive impact research has on NHS services and, more importantly, people’s lives, the NIHR are asking people to promote clinical research in a Thunderclap. By signing up to Thunderclap you agree to Tweet or post a message on Facebook or TUMBLR (or do all three!). Whoever signs up, sends the same message, on the same day, at the same time. That’s 12pm on Saturday 20 May 2017.

The message they would like you to Tweet or post is:

“Get involved in health + social care research! 500K people a year do – here’s 10 compelling reasons why #IAmResearch” 10 compelling reasons
