An abnormal mass of tissue that usually does not contain cysts (sacs containing fluid). Solid tumours may be benign (not cancerous), or malignant (cancerous). Solid tumours are named according to the type of cells that form them. Examples of benign tumours are adenomas and fibromas, and malignant tumours are sarcomas and carcinomas.
