A prognostic risk group to which a patient is assigned and which determines the approach to treatment. The Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Centre (MSKCC) prognostic score defines intermediate-risk kidney cancer as having at least one of the clinical or laboratory characteristics defined in the scoring system. Prognostic risk assessments are used to organise patients into groups that have similar outcomes for the analysis of clinical trial results.
