Eastern Cooperative Oncology Group: A scale for the measurement of performance, which is used to assess how a patient’s disease is progressing, how the disease affects the day-to-day life of the patient, and to help determine appropriate treatment and prognosis. The patient is graded from grade 0 (fully active, able to carry on all pre-disease performance without restriction) through grade 4 (completely disabled, unable to care for themselves, confined to bed or chair).
