On the 1st October 2023 I will be lacing up my running shoes to take part in the Baxter’s Loch Ness Marathon. I am doing this to raise funds in memory of my dear friend and colleague Wendy Stretch.

Wendy was an amazing lady, very kind, caring and a joy to be around. We worked together for approx 12 years and during that time we became close friends.

I started my running journey in 2017 as a complete non runner and in 2018 I ran Chester Marathon. Wendy was there on the day supporting me along the route, wearing a T shirt she’d had printed with my picture on. She was always there to offer support when I needed it.

I had been toying with the idea of entering Loch Ness Marathon for sometime but having decided I wasn’t going to run another marathon I soon put the idea out of my head. When Wendy passed away, I decided I would enter and run the event in her memory for a charity of Wendy’s family’s choice and I’m so pleased they have chosen Action Kidney Cancer.

The amount of support already received has been overwhelming. Please support me where you can as your donations will help to make a difference and will encourage me to make it to that finish line on the big day.

26.2 here I come 💪
